Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle Update – Long Bay Primary Closed Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 February

We have continued to monitor information that has been sent to us by a variety of sources and the likely impact of Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle. Following a meeting today with the Ministry of Education and local schools we will be closed for Monday and Tuesday the 13th and 14th of February. This decision was made with the safety of students and staff in mind and not taken lightly. All of the schools in the local area have taken the same position.

This will give time for the storm to pass and reduce the risk when travelling to and from the school site as well as any potential impact while at school.

Please continue to monitor and follow all advice from Auckland Emergency Management and Civil Defence.

We will send a further update on Tuesday afternoon about returning to school on Wednesday. This will come through the school website as well as through Seesaw and via email
