Teaching & Learning - Teaching Philosophy & Values

What is Our Teaching Philosophy?

At Long Bay Primary we believe in a learning environment where positive self esteem is key to successful learning and students experience success. We treasure a learning environment where students are encouraged to take risks and demonstrate perseverance and resilience, within a curriculum that makes meaningful connections with the students' lives.

Initiative, independence, cooperation and responsibility are virtues that are fostered, as are the development of effective partnerships between home and school.

Teaching and learning programmes are enhanced through high quality professional development of the teaching staff. Meaningful data analysis informs the teaching and learning programmes, while the effective use of digital devices contributes to children's learning.

What Do We Value?

Our school values, as summarised below and overarched by responsibility and respect, are linked with the NZ curriculum values, our school vision and with the Long Bay Way.
The Long Bay Way is our school citizenship guide, which encourages our students to develop the skills to live, learn, work and contribute as an active member of their community and make positive behaviour choices.
